It was really only a matter of time before I figured out how to get Twenty One Pilots onto a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors. I had been playing with the idea for awhile and have actually had the shoes I was going to paint on for awhile. The problem was is I couldn’t fully visualize what I was going to put on the shoes. The first Mutemath Chuck Taylors were easy, one album cover for every side. Twenty One Pilots have three albums, two members, and a ton of graphic imagery associated with them. I was not sure of how to put it all together.
I guess I just needed a gun put to my head because I figured it out two days before Mutemath was going to be playing with them one last time on their close out tour of “Blurryface” in Columbus on June 22nd. It took me two and half days to paint these shoes. They were completed at 6:30AM on that Thursday morning of the show. I was completely exhausted and still had to go to work, but I am really proud of how well they turned out in such a short time!
